Subject: [Tweeters] The story of the missing Arizona birders at

Dear Alan, I'm sorry that I can't help you with your ID question. Too bad
the AZ birders couldn't take a photo to validate their sighting.

But I have a suggestion for all us tweeterians: I think we should all get
small silver replicas of some bird or other - I like great blue heron, for
no particular reason. Then, when we do a good deed, we should smile Mona
Lisa-like and press a silver bird silently into the palm of the do-goodee.
The more outre members of our community might want to don a slim black mask,
too.

There is a serious point to my suggestion: It would be a great way to let
non-birders know that we are a community, we do care for things other than
just birds, and we like to spread happiness wherever we go. All kidding
aside, I try to mention to local businesses that I encounter in the course
of my travels that I am a birder and that the reason I am spending money in
a given locale is because of birds. - Connie, Seattle
