We had our first for sure male rufous today (3/4), although I thought I
might have heard one last week. This is the earliest arrival since I
started keeping exact dates in 1997. For the boys, the previous early date
was 3/9 (last year) and the average arrival date is 3/15. We're east of
Issaquah at about 1300 feet.



The girls won't by far behind, so now I need to hurry and mount the new
hummingbird "house" produced by Dan True. Has anyone around here tried
these with rufous hb's? Dan doesn't mention those as ones he's tried it
with. If there is anyone with positive experiences out there in Tweeter
land, I'd appreciate any suggestions you have as to mounting locations, or
anything else for that matter.
