Subject: [Tweeters] Gulls eating bumblebees
Date: Mar 5 16:56:03 2005
From: Rob Sandelin - floriferous at msn.com

Today I was at the Mukilteo diving spot, just north of the Ferry landing. I
observed a gull flying fast and erratically as if chasing something but did
not figure out what it was doing. Later, a huge queen bumblee went soaring
over the beach and sure enough, a gull took off in pursuit. It missed this
particular one, but now that I was clued it to what was happening, and sure
enough, a couple tries later, a gull managed to snatch one in mid-flight.
Impressive hunting as the bees flight was very zag ziggily.
