Spent part of a nice Saturday afternoon up in northern Kitsap Co. at Buck Lk
Co Pk and the Hansville Greenway. It was my first trip there since moving
back to KitsCo in 11/03. Nice place, community members developed and built
the G'way trails and did a wonderful job. Birds seen pretty much in order
seen:

Buck Lk:
Bufflehead
Am Wigeon
R-W Blackbird: two were singing back and forth, a third flew in and
it became an Epaulet Display, Beep-and-Call Extravaganza

Greenway, along #3 and #8 trails:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: big flock, one male very obligingly showed
his ruby crown and sang his song, very pretty
B-C Chickadee
Song Sp
Winter Wren: several, filling the woods w/song
Pileated Woodpecker (heard only)
No Flicker
Fox Sparrow (is it late for these guys??)
House Finch
Am Robin: many many; at one point I saw four up high in a cedar
tree, a stunning male apparently defending a lone female from the two other
males--lots of vocalizing, chasing from one branch to another, the other two
finally took off
Golden-crowned Kinglet: I think, never saw them but heard what
sounded like them

Had to stop at the Hansville store, couldn't resist peeking out at the
water. He-llo, a 3d-year Bald Eagle was calmly perched on a piling some 30
ft away from where I stood near the picnic tables. Was quite a surprise.
Had only my bins, the light was fading, but saw
Double-Crested Cormorant
Surf Scoter
Red-necked Grebe

Not a lot of birds, but it was a really nice day to be outside soaking up
the sun and birdsong.
