Just got back from a family vacation to southeast California. Besides adding a few species to my San Diego Co., Imperial Co., Riverside Co., Inyo Co. and San Bernardino Co., I saw an amazing thing with hoards of Turkey Vultures near dusk trying to roast in the larger trees in the town of Morongo Valley. I estimated over 300. The next morning there were another 60 in a large kettle moving north over Desert Hot Springs. I haven't seen the vultures in such large numbers and wondered why they picked Morongo Valley.

Due to all the rain in southern California the most flowers we saw were entering Death Valley from the south. Lots of color. We were too early for Anzo-Borego and Joshua Tree flower show.
