Hey All,

I took the ferry from Anacortes to Lopez Island today with two fellow
students from Western Washington University, as part of the ongoing seabird
census.

Our main highlight of the day was ~100 Rhinocerous Auklets, most in breeding
plumage. I counted 55 on the ride over, and another ~25 from the ferry dock
on Lopez Island. And although I don't have the data sheets with me, we
probably counted another 15-20 from various other points on the Lopez
Island. From the ferry dock on Lopez Island, excellent views were obtained
of their horned orange bill and facial tufts.

The other interesting sighting of the day was a single Turkey Vulture flying
low over some fields on Lopez Island.

The conditions were incredible today with warm temps, low wind, and calm
water.
