I wanted to post about an up-coming class at East Lake Washington
Audubon Society. It is a birding by ear class, I did this last year and
it was very helpful trying to figure all those singing birds.
This year they have added a class portion as well as a field trip, great
if you are new to birding or want a spring re-fresher course. Here is
the info below.

Beginning Birding by Ear on March 31, 2005

March 31, April 2 & 3, 2005 BEGINNING BIRDING BY EAR

Reduce warbler neck! Learn a new language in 2005! Beginning Birding By
Ear can get you started learning to identify birds by their songs and
calls. This year we have added an evening class to complement the
half-day field trip at Marymoor Park in Redmond. Topics will include:
Why Birds Sing, Aesthetics of Bird Song, Learning a New Language, plus
lots of slides and bird songs to compare.

Join us March 31st from 6:30 to 9 p.m. downstairs at the Northlake
Unitarian Universalist Church in Kirkland, and then either April 2nd or
3rd at 7:00 a.m. (note change in start time) for the half-day field trip.

Instructors will be ELWAS members Lou Ann Harris and Joyce Meyer.

Register by March 25th by calling the ELWAS Office (10:00 AM-2:00PM,
Mon., Tues., Fri.) at 425-576-8805.

Cost: $35 for ELWAS members (plus $1 parking fee at Marymoor)

$45 for non-members
