BIRDING 101


An introduction to birding watching class

We will cover the essential elements of birding in the course of five weeks including bird identification, classification, a little anatomy, and behavior. We will also show how to improve observation skills and bird finding techniques.

This class is on the following Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.;
April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 3 in the Olympia Center in downtown Olympia.

There are three field trips:
April 9 and 16 (Saturdays) in the local area
April 23 or 24 (one-half of the class each day) by van to Grays Harbor for the shorebird migration.

Instructors: Tom Schooley and Burt Guttman

Cost: $60 per person for Black Hills Audubon members, $75 for non-members which includes a one-year subscription to the Black Hills Audubon newsletter.

For everyone's comfort the class size is limited to 20 persons.

Participants are expected to attend all of the class meetings, bring a copy of Roger Tory Peterson's A Field Guide to Western Birds to the class, and have binoculars for the field trips.
