My husband and I finally got out to the McLane Creek area today. What a peaceful and beautiful place.

There were two pair of Wood Ducks on the ponds along with Mallards, American Wigeons, Canada Geese, Ring-necked Ducks, and a Pied-billed Grebe. Flying high over head we saw two Red-tailed Hawks, one that looked to have a long tether or something similar flying out behind his tail. Kingfishers, Red-winged Blackbirds, Winter Wrens, Marsh Wrens, and Chickadee sp. all chipped in with the wind moving through the grasses to provide quite a symphony. We also saw American Robin, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and Brown Creeper.
While trying to focus in on the zipping hummingbirds (which I never did manage to get a good enough look to say which species they were) I discovered 4 large birds in the background of the binoculars which turned out to be Evening Grossbeaks.

It is most defenatley spring out...Trilliums are up all over the place, False Lily-of-the-valley is pushing through the gound, as are the bleeding hearts.

Fluttering small blue butterflies, small creamy colered butterflies, newts/salamanders?, and a very friendly wolf (on leash and with it's person) filled in the edges of a very enjoyable walk.

Happy Birding and Happy Spring!
