For the last 3 weeks I've watched an ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD first building a
nest, and then incubating. Today, I was rewarded with the sight of her
feeding 2 tiny mouths. They never came up from the bottom of the nest, but
I could see opening gapes as mom fed them. What a treat!



Also of note:

* A few VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS among the many TREES.
* A male and female BELTED KINGFISHER sharing a branch.
* Was buzzed by a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, the first of the season.
* 3 different pairs of BEWICK'S WRENS collecting nesting material.
* A pair of RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS calling loudly as they flew from
tree to tree.
* On Saturday, a CACKLING GOOSE, was in the inner cove with 2 CANADAS.
That's a first for the park, as I have no records for one before the species
were split.



I know we need rain, but I think I'll probably go into a mild depression
when it does.
