Subject: [Tweeters] FW: [inland-NW-birders]Ring-billed Gull with red bill, Date: Mar 18 05:49:17 2005 From: Doug Schonewald - dschone8 at donobi.net
I thought this might be interesting to some of you. The pictures are striking. Is this an aberrant Ring-bill? A hybrid (the open wings show a decidedly light area where there should be black)? or a vagrant? The bird is located at the North Idaho College beach area of Coeur d Alene Lake in northern Idaho.

I have put some pictures on the Coeur d'Alene Audubon website of the gull with the red bill, legs and feet. There is a 2nd gull with the same coloration but not as bright. go to www.cdaaudubon.org/PictureGallery.htm and click on pictures 20 and 21
I will try to get better picture tomorrow.
