Hi all,
Delia and I took an old Carol Schulz tweeters post with us to find the ?buyout? area south of the airport in DesMoines and (West on 200th St. from I-5, exit 51, to the golf course and then park on left side of road). We didn?t see anything spectacular, but my posts to Tweeters seem to all bounce lately and I?m expecting this to also, for technical or other reasons, so consider this a ?testing 1..2..3? . I hope that doesn?t annoy anyone.
We saw many Pine Siskins, Robins and at least one Varied Thrush, Downy Woodpecker and Flickers, Towhees, Brown Creepers, Bewicks and many Winter Wrens whose loud singing almost got in the way of us hearing the jets taking off, plus many singing Ruby Crowned Kinglets, Song Sparrows, Juncos and a Fox Sparrow. Back on Beacon Hill, an overhead flock of Pine Siskins was sliced through, unsuccessfully, by a small, presumably male, Merlin, allowing us to add two species to the yardlist with only one glance.
Speaking of Yardlists, Bobbi and Curt Pearson have set a blistering pace with 29 species in Seattle residential class of the 2005 YardBirdRace, although Brett Wolfe had 25 back in February and I haven?t asked anyone for an update recently. Meanwhile Greenwood resident Patricia Lott had a Fox Sparrow, Hermit Thrush and Red Breasted Nuthatch among her 18 species already by February may be looking to create a dynasty of her own in Class Multifamily Seattle. Logical places for Class multifamily like Capitol Hill haven?t fielded entries yet.

In Class Waterview for Western Washington, Carolyn Eagan?s entry from Squamish Harbor in Jefferson County was at 48 species by the middle of February including a Red Throated Loon and a Greater Yellowlegs.


Meanwhile, a Pygmy Owl adorns Dawn Bailey?s list of 28 (as of mid Feb) in Eatonville, while Tayler (age 14 ) and Liz Brooks were also already at 28, helped by a Pileated Woodpecker, Merlin and Varied Thrush.

I?m hoping to get all this YardBirdRace information on to my website and will not continue to report it this way on Tweeters, that?s as soon as I can get the ?dream? out of ?Dreamweaver.?
