Speaking of Slaty-backed Gulls:

Thought some of you out there in Tweeterland might be interested in some of
the Chukotka-Kamchatka cruises being offered aboard the M/V Tayfun
("Typhoon") for late summer-early fall. An old contact, Sergei Frolov,
recently sent me the details. I've never taken the trip myself but the time
frame is excellent for best results. Slaty-backs should be abundant in
coastal areas, and the trip should be productive for alcids and some of the
harder waterfowl (Lesser WF Goose, Spectacled Eider) and shorebirds
(Spoon-billed Sand), among others.
