Tweeters,
I apologize for the late report for 3/24, but work interfered yet again.

03-24-2005
11:51 start - water level tending toward low, with most mudflats visible
(10:26 low tide - 3.9ft; 16:02 high tide - 9.7ft)
12:41 end

A rather brisk breeze from the south, and partly sunny skies at Turning
Basin #3. A NORTHERN FLICKER called several times from my side of the
river, then flew over to the restoration peninsula and continued to call
from there for several minutes. One of the Delridge RED-TAILED HAWKS
settled on the top crossbar of a power tower alongside SR 599, then
spotted something in the verge and dropped down - I didn't see it after
that.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (5)
Gadwall (6)
Mallard (3)
Bufflehead (4)
Double-crested Cormorant
Red-tailed Hawk
Mew Gull (36)
Glaucous-winged Gull (9)
Rock Pigeon (22)
Northern Flicker
American Crow (4)
Black-capped Chickadee (2)
Bewick's Wren (2)
American Robin
European Starling (30)
Song Sparrow (3)
House Finch (2)
House Sparrow (2)

12:12 start - water level low (10:53 low tide - 2.8ft; 16:47 high tide -
10.0ft)
12:40 end
13:01 Full Moon

Cloudy, cool south breeze (incorrectly left my jacket inside), and more
than the usual mudflats exposed at Turning Basin #3. Had a nice chat
with one of the maintenance folks who stopped by mentioning "Isn't it
about time for the Ospreys to be back?" It seems he and another guy have
been watching the Ospreys here for about 5 years, and thought that
sometime around April 1 was the date they arrived. He's right, and I
anticipate they'll return next week.

Many more MEW GULLS than usual, but not too much of anything else today.
Two RED-TAILED HAWKS circled over Delridge.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (4)
Mallard (2)
Bufflehead (7)
Double-crested Cormorant (2)
Red-tailed Hawk (2)
Mew Gull (41)
Glaucous-winged Gull (14)
Rock Pigeon (23)
American Crow (2)
Bewick's Wren
European Starling (75; on both nearby power towers)
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
House Finch (4)

May all your birds be identified,
