Hi Tweets,

Today Fred Parent, Zach Elsner, Marketa McGuire and I left Seattle in
the dead of night at 2:30AM after only a couple hours of sleep. After
braving awful weather at Snoqualmie Pass and the long drive we managed
to see several male GREATER SAGE GROUSE display at the Leahy Junction
Lek around 6:45AM. The weather seemed great as we approached but as
soon as we got out of the car we were plagued with snow flurries and
rain for most of the day. On highway 28 just outside of Ephrata we
came across a great spot for birding in a field which contained a
SAY's PHOEBE, several SAVANNA SPARROW and a couple of LONG-BILLED
CURLEW which circled around landing occasionally and offering good
scope views. Along the Old Vantage Highway we saw several LOGGERHEAD
SHRIKE and shared great looks of SAGE THRASHERS with ELWAS at MP20.
Also at MP20 we saw two SAGE SPARROWS actively feeding on the sage.
Despite being complete dead on our feet, and being subjected to nasty
weather most of the day we ended up with an okay list of about 44
species.
