Hi Tweets:

East Lake Washington Audubon's trip to Eastern Washington on Saturday, March 26, was interesting considering the weather conditions. We left Issaquah at 7 a.m. It was snowing good at the pass when we got there and there were already spin-outs and accidents. Our Subarau Outbacks didn't have any trouble with the snow and ice. Snow turned to rain as we went east but by the afternoon the weather had settled down. Snoq. pass was closed, however. We continued birding. We saw several Say's Phoebes along Bettas Rd, more near Ginko State Park. A Vesper Sparrow was seen singing from the fence line on Bettas. On Parke Creek Rd off of Old Vantage Hwy we saw Yellow-headed Blackbird and Wilson's Snipe were calling and displaying. On the Old Vantage Hwy there were nice looks at a Rough-legged Hawk and Horned Lark. A Rock Wren was singing from the cliffs along the boat ramp road near Ginko State Park. While at this birding spot, a Long-billed Curlew was seen flying high in the sk!
y. We saw several Great Horned Owls on nests from Ellensburg to Vantage. A stop for an early dinner was all the time we needed for Snoq. Pass to re-open. Driving conditions were good on the return trip. 57 species were seen along with Elk, 20 Mule Deer at Swauk Cemetary, racoon, Yellow-bellied Marmot, and racoon.
