Hey tweets,

After spending an enjoyable day on the WOS fieldtrip on Saturday (as
previously reported by Scott Downes), my parents and I spent the night in
Pasco. Today, we leisurely birded our way home to Sammamish.

After birding Rattlesnake Ridge in the morning (dozens of Horned Larks), we
ended up in Prosser where we came across a Ferruginous Hawk on Bunn Rd. This
hawk obviously knew it had an audience because within minutes of our arrival
it decided to ham it up a bit by flying to within 30 yards of us, landing on
the ground, giving unobstructed views. It then comically ran around on the
ground and hopped on a small rodent, which it quickly devoured before flying
back to its original perch. Good fun!

A picture of the hawk can be seen at--->

Other highlights from today include:

Cliff Swallows - 15-20 along Columbia River by I-182 bridge, west of Pasco
Canyon Wren - singing along Yakima Canyon Rd. (where were the Prairie
Falcons?!)
Osprey - a pair eating fish and visiting the nest at Sarg Hubbard Park in
Yakima

Good Migrations,
