All,

As we busily tumble toward the Wings Over Water festival on April 2-3, I took
time today to check out the water to see if the birds had received the news.
What did I find?

*Common and Pacific Loons were rafting between Semiahmoo and White Rock, BC,
along with all three scoter species, two cormorant species, both goldeneyes,
and four grebe species. Long-tailed ducks, Red-breasted Mergansers, Northern
Pintails, and Brant were observed at every pullout between Blaine, Birch Bay,
and Lummi Bay.
The tide was out but large Dunlin flocks were observed on all tideflats.

Lake Terrell (one of the stops on Saturday's van field trip--register now)
had 200+ Common Mergansers along with almost that many Ring-necked Ducks and
don't even think about counting the endangered coots!

BTW, Lex Headley, renowned wildlife artist from Vancouver, BC, is presenting
two bird sketching workshops at the festival on Saturday--one for adults and
one for kids. Give me a call or e-mail me if you'd like to register.

Otherwise....bird on,
