Greetings All
Fred Boesche and I birded from Brady Loop Road out to Tokeland today in very
decent weather. It was a fantastic day with 133 species recorded. The main
surprise was a highly vociferous (read: obnoxious) Northern Mockingbird in
the town of Grayland, flying around a neighborhood near the Beachcomber's
MiniMart/Deli. In just a couple minutes the bird gave imitations of 15
species, my favorite of which was the Blue Jay and Steller's Jay calls given
in rapid succession. The songs were so loud that they got the attention of
local residents, who hadn't heard it before today.
