Hi! I live in a residential neighborhood in the small town of Bridgeport,
in Douglas Co. These are the new for the season yard birds I've seen since
May 1st: Nashville Warbler, W. Tanager, Rufous Hummer, Wilson's Warbler,
Orange-crowned Warbler, Calliope Hummer, Golden-crowned Sparrow and
Lincoln's Sparrow. AND one LONG-BILLED CURLEW. The one time I walked
out the back door to go across the alley to a neighbor's and did not take
my binoculars , I scared up this long, decurved billed bird, which took off
with a squak kinda-like a heron makes. Flew between our house and the
neighbor's towards my front yard. Back into the house for binos, out the
front door and into the street. No bird flying. Less than 1/2 block away
is a cemetery; no bird there. What can I say? My other choice is
Whimbrel???? No matter what it was, it's a new yard bird for me! Meredith
