Birds are truly moving through or returning to our area.

Barb and Tom Clarke had a HARRIS'S SPARROW visit their Benton City feeder
from April 25 to 28.

On April 28, 29 and May 1, Bob Woodley had a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at his
Richland feeder. On April 28, Bob also spotted a LARK SPARROW along Horn
Rapids Road, off Stevens Road in Richland.

Ruth Fischer noted the return of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES to her Richland
neighborhood on April 28.

On April 30, Taffy Mercer had a BLUE JAY at her feeder in Finley.

Also on April 30, Bob Woodley had a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at his Richland
feeder. On May 4, he found a WESTERN TANAGER and 2 COMMON LOONS in Leslie
Groves Park in Richland and had a male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD and a female
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at his feeder.

It pays to watch in your own backyard. Mary Hollen found a CHIPPING
SPARROW in her North Richland yard on May 3, and 2 NASHVILLE WARBLERS there
on May 4.

Also on May 4, Nancy LaFramboise found a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT at Horn Rapids
Park. It was well hidden but calling from behind the cottonwoods in the
rose bushes along the river trail.
