Dan,

I once had a wasp nest in an antenna tuner mounted on an outside wall. I
used a can of compressed dry nitrogen in the form of an aerosol spray can.
The cans usually have a small plastic pipe which you insert into the nozzle
to direct the spray. This gas gets very cold and will freeze yellow
jackets nicely. The gas will dissipate leaving the nest box in original
condition. Office Depot has similar cans for blowing out the insides of
computers. Non electronic folks should use care with this gas as it can
fracture warm electrical components as found in computers, TVs and such.

One of the nest boxes I constructed over the winter has become home to a
nest of yellow jackets.
