Tweets,
I've been trying to discover if there is any good data
about the effects of night-time flash photography on
Owls. I've been trying to decide if it is ethical,
and if it could be harmful to the birds. The
following link discusses it, but does not really help.
It appears that the general consensus is: Nobody
really knows.

I've read other supposition (read justification) that
because of the short duration, flash units would have
less effect than a spotlight or flash light.

I think I will have to do an experiment. I'll go out
into my backyard in the evening, and sit around for
about 1/2 hour for my eyes to adjust. Maybe set up an
Eye-chart to quantify how well my eyes are adjusting.
Then I will blast myself with a flash unit and see how
it effects my night vision. This is probably the only
way to check it and feel comfortable about the
results.
Or uncomfortable, as the case may be ;)

Suggestions? Comments?

Thanks!
Guy
