I had a Band Tail Pigeon too. I use a wide tray on the bottom of my tube
feeders so that the ground feeders will come too. The Band Tails would
light on the tray and clean me out. I ended up buying a cage for the feeders
at "Wild Birds" ( I don't work for them.) that has openings that will let
the small birds through. Still big enough to let the Douglas Squirrels
through if you like them as I do. Just run a bungee cord underneath from one
side to the other or the Band Tails will push the cage aside.
