Not only has the Ivory Billed Woodpecker been discovered alive and well (at
least we hope its doing well in it's seclusion), but a new rodent has been
discovered.

One would think we would know all the animals and birds alive on our planet
in the early years of the 21st century, when something turns up that turns
our assumptions on end.

The Coelacanth fish thought to be extinct millions of years was discovered
to be alive in 1938.

A new species of bat was discovered in 1974, the "Bumblebee Bat

And now we have the Laotian Rock Rat!

It's a odd looking beast, and I doubt it'll end up a cage critter at your
local Petco anytime soon.....

It's wonderful that we still have a lot of discovery yet to make!
