Hi Tweets,

This afternoon after work I drove around on some of the logging roads in the foothills just northwest of Elma. My main target was Western Bluebird. Last year around this time I found a pair at a nest hole on the A-2800 road. Well, today I heard bluebirds at the A-2800, but did not see any. At the A-2800, I did find MacGillivray's Warbler, Western Tanager, and Olive-sided Flycatcher. I spotted another flycatcher in the top of a small tree that looked like a possible Willow Flycatcher, but it did not sing so I left it at that.

The next big clearcut on my drive which was the A-2600 produced 3 Western Bluebirds. When I first sighted them, I focused on one that perched in a little fir tree not more than 40 yards away from me. What a great sight! They stuck around for about 10 minutes allowing great looks until they moved down the cut away from me. Its always nice finding your target bird!

Good birding,
