Hello Tweets,

We have placed 3 photos of the adult light-morph Swainson's Hawk along Brady Loop Rd. onto our website,of which are all in flight. We took several photos of the bird at a moderate distance perched atop 1 of 2 fencepost, but are of evenmore poor quality. These 4 photos are mainly for proof of species due to the rarity of the this species in western WA. It is listed in Bob Morse's "A Birder's Guide to Ocean Shores"(copyright 1994)in the accidental portion of the Grays Harbor Co. checklist,as well as on the most current Grays Harbor Co. checklist updated by Ken Knittle. It is also published in the newly re-edited "Birds of Washington" Status and Distribution by Terence R.Wahl, Bill Tweit and Steven G.Mlodinow, where a sighting is mentioned from Ocean Shores on the 14th of April,2001. The book also mentioned that this species is nearly annual in the Puget Trough and from the Cape Flattery Hawkwatch site in Clallam Co. How many records there may be in Grays Harbor Co. it was a great bird for us to see and document too.

Our photos of the Swainson's Hawk taken in flight can be viewed at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/may05photos/

In addition to the Swainson's Hawk in our May gallery we have placed 5 photos of the Northern Mockingbird taken recently at Grayland.

Sincerely,
