Hello Tweets,OBOLers, and other birders,

We have placed 4 photos of an American Bittern onto our website.I find it strange that there are no photos in popular Bird Books of the plumage from a breeding display of the American Bittern.I took this photos on April 28th,2002 at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. I did not have to look this behavior up in any reference and I knew what it was even without ever seeing this before in the field. An article was written up by Ruth Sullivan in the June-July 2002 Washington Ornithological Society WOSNews."A Courtship Display of the male American Bittern."
