Hi, Tweets

Today, Bill Kaufman and I braved a lot of driving rain and wind and went up
to the falls to look at the peregrines that Janet Ray mentioned
yesterday. We weren't disappointed. One of the adults was hidden in the
greenery to the west, but another birder had spotted it earlier so we got
good looks. The chicks are extremely easy to see as they are still mostly
white with dark primaries growing out. They were sleeping when we arrived,
but eventually awakened and moved around enough so that we got good looks.
Through my foggy scope I was able to let a few people see them and they
were quite thrilled. Evidently, it had been mentioned on one of the news
channels yesterday, too.

Thanks, Janet, for the heads up. It made a nice trip and while having lunch
at the lodge we were treated to lots of sunshine plus nesting barn swallows
right overhead. As soon as we finished lunch and headed outside, the rain
was a deluge again!

Cheers, Diann
