I was standing in the rain, in Olympia, watching a downy woodpecker dig
into an old Maple across the street. I was standing on the sidewalk and
people with important things to do were going around the odd man with
binoculars looking at the trees across the street. A very attractive young
lady came to stand beside me, she too had binoculars. We were married a few
years later. 19 years later we still watch birds together.
