This morning I was with a group that saw a Jaeger west from the lighthouse
at Discovery Park, Seattle. It flew back and forth and then landed in the
water, giving us good binocular and scope views.

At the time I felt it was a Parasitic Jaeger. It matched the illustration
of a light morph breeding adult, with a visible brown chest band.

We ruled out Long-Tailed Jaeger due to the chest band and the lack of a long
tail streamers.

After looking at the books at home, I realize I do not have the experience
to rule out Pomarine Jaeger, except that Parasitic seems very much more
likely in Puget Sound. The descriptions of Pomarine seem to agree that it
tends to stay well offshore.
