Today, while suppose to be leading a new Audubon group from Raymond who never showed up, we (Anne Kahle and Rose Dubois and I) birded the Ridgefield NWR and northeastern Clark Co. Total species were 69. The wet rainy afternoon really put a damper on anything singing in the mountains. Here is some of the high lights we saw today.

Ridgefield NWR
1 pair of Northern Pintail--late date
3 Redheads on Rest Lake (2males, 1 female)
1 nesting pair of Red-breasted Sapsuckers east of railroad tracks in an old snag up the hill from the open area next to the tracks.
Several Western Wood-Pewees
1 Pacific-slope Flycatcher in ravine leading into the refuge-heard
1 nest of Bushtits nest is a new one built this year only a few feet away from last years nest at the top of the ravine leading into the refuge on the north side of the road hanging in Ivy. Nest was full of noisy young and the parents were very busy bring food in.
1 nest hole of White-breasted Nuthatches east of trail leading into the photo blind.

Sunset Falls to Silver Star Mt. and back along the Cedar Creek Rd. leading west towards Woodland
Ruffed Grouse along Cedar Creek Rd.
Olive-sided Flycatcher-coming off Silver Star Mt. (north side) in an old clear cut-not calling
Varied Thrush coming off Silver Star Mt.
Hermit Warbler Dole Valley Road only bird singing in the rain in the mountains.
