Hi Tweeters,

I just got a call from my Pullman kids who witnessed some very strange
bird behavior. They were fishing at Wawawai County Park on the Snake
River. They looked up to see a redwing blackbird male carrying a female
oriole in his talons over the lagoon. An agitated male oriole was flying
beside them. The blackbird/oriole pair then plunged into the water, both
flapped a bit, regained flight and flew away. I asked them if they were
"yanking my chain" They confirmed that it was true. I asked them if they
were sure it was a redwing blackbird doing the carrying - they were 100%
sure.

Any ideas?
