I had a similar case of the Western Wood Pee Wee/ Gray Flycatcher mystery in Umtanum, Wa. just East of Cle Elum this last weekend. The bird sat perfectly still for me and I still couldn't decipher the difference. The call was very loud but trying to put human words to a bird call sometimes throws me off. I am leaning towards Western WPW but really have can't say that I have ever "officially" ID either birds. Other notable birds on trip:

Cedar Waxwings
Bullock's Orioles
Wilsons Warbler
Black Headed Grossbeaks
Yellow Breasted Chats
Lazuli Buntings
Bald Eagle
Osprey
American Kestrel
Prarie Falcons (prey exchange)
Canyon Wrens
Lewis Woodpeckers
Western Tanagers
Western Meadow Lark
Western Kingbird

If anybody is in the area campsite #9 or #11 in the Umtanum Rec. area provide wonderful views of most of these birds and one not need more than a chair to see them up close. What a great way to "pish" a day away!
