11:47 start - water level extremely low, with more than the usual
mudflats showing (12:41 low tide - (minus) 3.5ft)
12:22 end

Tweeters,
Warm north breeze, clear view of Mt. Rainier, some high thin clouds, and
one of the lowest tides of the year at Turning Basin #3. The females at
the crane-boom and Hamm Creek OSPREY nests are sitting tight, with the
males in attendance at both sites.

A female House Finch, male consorting close by, with a beak full of
nesting material flew to a covered area on a nearby building. A pair of
Song Sparrows were copulating on the mudflat below my primary scanning
site.

It's very difficult to count the BARN and CLIFF SWALLOWS that nest under
the Boeing bridge. I only count what I see in the air at a particular
time, but I feel confident that this number is just a smidgen of the
population that's there.

A first for the year was a male BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD in a butterfly bush
to the south of my position.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (3)
Mallard (6)
Double-crested Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron
Osprey (4)
Glaucous-winged Gull (9)
Rock Pigeon (12)
American Crow (3)
Cliff Swallow (10)
Barn Swallow (3)
American Robin
European Starling (2)
Song Sparrow (2)
Red-winged Blackbird (2)
Brown-headed Cowbird
House Finch (2)
House Sparrow (3)

May all your birds be identified,

Denis DeSilvis
