Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 21 a WHITE-WINGED DOVE briefly visited a feeder near Estacada. That
day a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at Madras. Another GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE, an
OVENBIRD, and a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were at Malheur Headquarters last
week-end. A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen in Coos Bay during the week.

A major movement of RED CROSSBILLS is now being seen in Western Oregon with
many being seen in city neighborhoods with some visiting bird feeders. Over
2000 were at Cascade Head May 25.

On May 25 two BLACK SWIFTS were at New River. A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was
on the North Spit of Coos Bay May 19. A territorial BLACK PHOEBE was near
Elkton May 22. On May 22 a HORNED PUFFIN and 400 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were at
Boiler Bay. Over 1500 CEDAR WAXWINGS were moving through Lincoln City May
22. On May 25 a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Cascade Head. On May 24 two
BLACK SWIFTS were near the mouth of the Salmon River.

A well-marked SWAINSON?S HAWK has been seen at the northwest side of the
Portland Airport during the week. On May 21 a VESPER SPARROW was on Sauvie
Island. A possible BLACK SWIFT was seen May 24 at Watson Falls near Glide. A
surprising WANDERING TATTLER was seen May 22 at Lost Lake on Santiam Pass.

A MOCKINGBIRD has been seen during the week at Tumalo State Park near Bend.
A SWAINSON?S THRUSH was at Bend May 21. A late ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was near
Paulina May 23.
