Tweets,

Today 10 of us walked Nisqually in warm sunny conditions. I was surprised at
the number of birds out early. we decided that today's bird were split 50 -
50. Half were CEDAR WAXWINGS and half were not. WAXWINGS were everywhere.

Other highlights included a flight of AMERICAN BITTERN. One took off from a
marsh on the way out to McAllister Creek, circled around, and three more fell
in behind him. Quite a sight. We also had our first real flycatchers of the
year.

We had an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER behind the visitor center and WILLOW and
PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHERS in several location. We also saw a flock of about 20
BAND-TAILED PIGEONS out behind the ring dike in the riparian area and our
first HAIRY WOODPECKERS of the year inside the boardwalk.

We had quite a few YELLOW WARBLERS and SWAINSON'S THRUSH.

All told we had 49 species for the day. New for the year were RING-NECKED
PHEASANT, BAND-TAILED PIGEON, HAIRY WOODPECKER, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, WILLOW
FLYCATCHER, and SWAINSON'S THRUSH, giving us a total of 122 species for the
year.

Well, I'm off to Wenas. Hope to see you there.

Until next week.
