BANDING REPORT- Neawanna Wetland Preserve
05-26-2005

Method: Up to eight 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

Notes: Weather was warm (65? by 06:30) and sunny with quite a bit of
wind coming from the east (more or less).

We had two recaptured SWAINSON'S THRUSHES one of which was banded, as
an adult, on Mar 22, 1999. That makes it at least 7 years old! Also
recpatured a SONG SPARROW from 2001 which would be at least 5 years
old.

Captured a juv male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD. CEDAR WAXINGS have turned up
for the twinberry feast (and were also taking advantage of a CARPENTER
ANT flight).

We heard and saw lots of WESTERN TANAGERS, but none came near the net.

Also a strong PAINTED LADY pulse with a few WEST COAST LADIES mixed in.
