Hello,
I have arrived in the fair state of Washington (Ellensburg area right now), and I'll be heading to Wapato early next week, and then on to Portland, Oregon, late in the first week of June. Any fun bird spottings in those areas I should know about, or bird festivals to attend?
Had fun in Corpus. Got to see my first painted bunting, and I saw 3! One flew right out in to the middle of the road on windy day when all others were hiding from the wind. I could not believe it! The second was dining with male cardinals on a bird feeder at McKinney Roughs, near Bastrop. What a show! Plus 2 roadrunners in ten minutes, and 95 indigenous species in 6 hours. Then I got to see a Mississippi kite over Garden City, Kansas, and 3 osprey nests on the Clark Fork in Montana. This has been a good spring for birding!
Can't wait to see what awaits me here.
Thanks in advance,
Clare
