At Ridgefield Saturday morning (9:30) 11 WHITE PELICANS soared & circled
overhead at the end of the first leg of the loop. When first observed 5 were
at about ~200 feet and gaining altitude, joined by others and accompanied by
4 eagles. They eventually disappeared in an upriver direction.

At least 5 "adult" BLACK TERNS were present over Middle Lake (Kiwa? Trail)
(one perched in an isolated dead tree). 3 were observed together over Rest
Lake, plus 1 apparent 1st-year (pale) tern by itself seen at a
great distance over Rest Lake.

Other birds of interest: Bullock's Oriole (6-8, very active), Great Egret
(at least two tucked away on the right-hand side of the 1st leg of the
loop), American Bittern (Middle Lake), two snipe displaying and then
perching in an oak tree near Middle Lake, a few L. Scaup & ringnecks, and a
female Bufflehead.
