I wish I had documented that day on Tatoosh Mt. when I saw both the Raven and Coyote events. This was about 15 years ago. It was a family hike. The Ravens were at the top of the mountain spread out over a snow field, they were walking about with very little flying going on. There was no carcass that I could see and the Ravens were here and there. I saw the Coyote gathering when we were going down. I stopped to get some water at a stream, off the trail about half a mile from the top. I heard them before I saw them, howling from every direction, yips and yaps. To my amazement I saw them, there was a group running together like a pack....I could see the little pups as well, I had to rub my eyes. This was in the evening. I had a german shepherd with me and she was excited as well!

The Ravens and the Coyotes did not appear to be connected in any way. It was one of those unusual sightings... that is the reason we go into the mountains.

I have often seen Ravens flying upside down at Noble Knob. Not only that but they spin and fly as fast as they can into the tree tops, dodging the branches. They are clearly playing. They also seem to have fun harrassing birds of prey. My dad claims to have seen them become upset once when a squadron of Turkey Vultures flew through their area, though I don't know why they would except for territorial reasons. I saw Ravens tease a dog once....
