Today at the Yakima Delta, I was happy to find a Tundra Swan. Checking the
mud and water, I also found Dunlin, Long-billed Dowitchers, Eared, Horned
and Western Grebes as well as a lone Red-necked Grebe and the Surf Scoter.
I also found what was probably a very late Franklin's Gull. It flew before
I could cinch the ID. Bob Woodley joined me and missed the gull by a few
seconds.

The gull still had a partial black hood. It was larger and darker headed
than 8 Bonaparte's Gulls that were there, but smaller than the Ring-bills.
It was not a Sabine's. The gull was way too distant to be sure of things
like leg and bill color, so hopefully it can be relocated tomorrow morning.

Almost as soon as I got home, I got a phone call from a woman who had a
hummingbird coming to her honeysuckle. After an hour and a half wait, an
immature male Anna's came in.

Such a unique day in the TriCities.
