Nancy and Tweeters,

I had a bat house that no bat ever touched, but I left it up because it was the winter/night roost for a female flicker. It was fun to see her inch her way up the tree into that box which was only open on the bottom.

By the way, that must be some kind of record, 25 nests built by two Robins. Very wren-like!

Hi Tweets,
We have a female flicker that has been roosting in some abandon robins nests in our veranda roof. We think it is the same bird that did this last winter. Two robins built about 25 nests in the rafters along a beam that runs the length of the house. The flicker moves in when it gets dark and sleeps the night. We do not have the heart to remove the nests.
