I'm proposing to start a Cle Elum Christmas Bird Count (CBC), using 2005 as
a trial run. I have put diagrams of the circle at
http://www.wos.org/CleElumCBCCircle.htm.
My goal is to have a circle in the mid-elevation regions of the east slope
of the Cascades.
Another goal is to have an Eastern Washington CBC that is easy for
Seattle-area birders to help out with (though local support would be GREATLY
appreciated).
The 2005 Trial Run will be Thursday, December 15th. I would like this
always to be an early-in-the-count-period, weekday count, if I can get
enough people to help out.
There could be some pretty good species possible on this count, including
Rough-legged Hawk, Townsend's Solitaire, Bohemian Waxwing, Pine Grosbeak,
Common Redpoll, and Evening Grosbeak, among a hopefully long list of birds.
If you are interested in joining this trial count, please drop me an email.
