Several hopeful groups of birders braved the cold winds at West Point, Discovery Park, Seattle, this morning hoping for views of the Snow Buntings located there day before yesterday by Mark Vernon. The buntings were at times hard to find as they sheltered in the beach grass, but it is likely all three remain, as we spotted one foraging near the entrance to the lighthouse property and two together on beach logs about 100 yards east of the lighthouse on the south beach. This between 10 and 11 AM. All three closely resembled Sibley's 1st winter female illustration.

No Ancient Murrelets yet but several Pacific Loons and one Red-throated flew by heading south. Also one Brandt's Cormorant, one Common Murre, and a nice flock of Greater Scaups with one Lesser, one Ring-necked Duck, one Harlequin, and six Barrow's Goldeneyes in the mix.
