I would like to add my thanks as well for seeing and id'ing this amazing
bird.

Gene spotted and id'ed the Ruff and he and Guy made the perilous trip
out on the rocks and got quite close. Myself, feeling rather un-
mountain goat like, elected to stay safely on the beach with scopes. I
did manage to get a good look at the Ruff as it was up on the top of the
rocks, what I did not see was the very large wave that came in. It was
very startling to find myself in very fast moving, cold, butt deep
water. I was talking to some locals who wanted to know what we were
looking at, we all got swamped by the wave, but they were quick enough
to grab Gene's scope as we all waded into shore. Gene let people know
that the Ruff had been seen at the Jetty, but right after he left a
Peregrine did a swoop over and it got real quite. Was the Ruff seen
after that at all?
It was long soggy drive home but worth any minor discomfort, two lifers
in one day!
