We made the trek over to Discovery Park today and walked down from the
Daybreak Star parking area, along the waterfront, to the lighthouse, and
back up, with no signs of the snow buntings.

It was blustery as hell down near the lighthouse, however, and if I were a
smallish bird, I might well have been lying low. There were also lots of
people jogging, some with dogs (we had ours, but stayed off the beach paths
as per the rules; many people did not).

On the plus side, there was a large raft of 200+ western/clark's grebes off
the north side of the spit (just north of the lighthouse), some nice
mergansers, and a few white-winged scoters who were quite close into shore,
allowing us to see their peculiar spread-winged diving behavior, so
different from most diving duckids. Certainly worth the walk.
