On an ELWAS field trip several years ago I was bodily picked up by an errant
wave, from the jetty beach; 'scope, tripod, binos et-al, and set back down on
a smooth boulder about half way out to the ocean. Long story getting rescued
by the field trip crew, and there was, among them, enough spare dishabille
that I rode home dry, though so unmatched and misfit they wouldn't let me go
into McDonalds with them.

Scope and binos were unreparable but I'd unconciously had enough wits to keep
my head above water, saving the added expense of new hearing aids. Still
using the same ones!
