Yesterday afternoon I stopped by Discovery Park to check out the birding along the waterfront. The weather was quite windy but there was no rain. The Snow Bunting was present along the gravel path just south of the lighthouse. I also had Black, Surf, and White-winged Scoters present. It's nice to be able to see all three scoters in one spot. There was the usual assortment of ducks, grebes, and gulls around, but I did not notice anything unusual. There were a few small rafts of Western Grebes; a couple hundred birds total.

Earlier in the morning I went to the Edmonds Fishing Pier, and the weather was much the same, very windy yet no rain. I was looking for alcids, but found very few. I had one Rhinoceros Auklet and a few Pigeon Guillemots, that's all. The best birds at this location were a Red-throated Loon and a group of seven Brant.

Friday afternoon I made the trip over to Ocean Shores and observed the Temminck's Stint. Patrick Ruth Sullivan were busy assisting the many birders who had arrived to see the bird; and there were nice comparisons with a Least Sandpiper that was hanging around.
