Subject: [Tweeters] Odd Mixed Flock

Hi Tweeters,

This morning outside the Harris Hydraulic's lab on the
UW campus I saw the weirdest mixed flock of birds I
can recall. It contained Black-capped Chickadee,
Bushtit, Yellow-rumped Warbler, (normal buddies),
American Goldfinch, 3 Anna's Hummingbirds, Song
Sparrow, and a Bewick's Wren. The goldfinches and
hummers seemed very out of place with the crowd. They
were quite vocal and I was kind of hoping to see a
predator. But they all moved off quickly except for a
small group of crows who were probably drawn to the
noise. One crow became apparently bored by the whole
thing and started to play with a dead leaf. When I
walked back that way about 5 minutes later, not a bird
in sight in that spot.

The Western Grebes are still around, up to 11 noted
one day but usually 4-6 of them. Still waiting for
the big duck influx.
